We're Kris & Lindy Boustedt (@krisandlindy) and we make films in Seattle. For us, watching stellar short films can be great inspiration. These are some of our favorites. If curious, you can find our film projects at http://firstsightproductions.com/
HE TOOK HIS SKIN OFF FOR ME - By @BenAstonDir One of the best shorts we saw last year. A beautiful fairy-tale about the consequences of what we demand of our partners. Stunning, powerful, forever memorable and we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next. Very happy to get to share this film! Also check out the wonderful review on Short of the Week.
This is an epic music video covering one of the coolest songs K & I have ever heard. This music video is covered in 12 parts and will infect you with it’s shear joy and happiness, wrapped in beautiful NY city. Learn more about the film and it’s creative story line here - http://www.girlwalkallday.com/about
DOG FOOD - By@briancrano is beautifully orchestrated and paced. Keeps you on the edge and guessing the entire time. Loved this!
SOMEBODY - Once again Miranda July takes the absurd and tells a powerful, emotional story.
THEY LOOK RIGHT THROUGH YOU - Love the way animator Tess Martin visually illustrates interviews of people talking about their beloved pets. Simple and powerful - like all of Tess’s work. Check out her other films and art at http://www.tessmartinart.com/
BRINK - This uber-visual, lyrical love story sticks with you long after you see it. Saw it a year or so ago and happy to have found it again.
NO: ‘Stay with me’ - The best kinda music video - a powerful, poignant story…with crash test dummies. By: @ryanreichenfeld
MACKLEMORE ‘WINGS’ - Utilizing some amazing Seattle talent to visualize a powerful message. While we’re fans of Macklemore’s other video work, this one still stands out as our favorite. Though 'SAME LOVE’ is a close, close second.
RADIOHEAD ‘JUST’ - This video has stuck with us for many years. It’s a story completely independent of the lyrics yet while at the same time capturing the essence of the song. It was unique then and still pretty unique today. Just wish they didn’t have to use that fake arm. :-)
CRUSH - We love this quirky, touching short from @Rebecca_Pugh & @thejenwestquest chronicling the relationship of a woman and her chair. Simple, yet layered.

Inocente - Watching this movie changed our lives last year - leading us to spend the year producing/editing four animated short films addressing family homelessness. This young girl’s touching story is full of heart, love, and shows us the transformative power of art. Had the honor of meeting her in person and her light and grace is infectious. Directors Sean Fine and Andrea Nix took over a year to find Inocente and their dedication and ability to tell such a raw story paid off, it won the Oscar for Best Short Documentary in 2013. MTV won’t let us embed the video but if you follow this link, you can watch the full documentary on MTV’s site for free.
DESSERTS - Can’t say too much about this one without giving it away. Short and simply executed but leaves you thinking about all it means in the end. Thanks to Dan Greenberger for turning us on to this gem.
HAM SANDWICH - A magical ham sandwich and time travel… do you really need more reasons to watch? “May the wishes of your heart be noble. Or damned be your soul.”
THIS IS JOHN - A short film from the Duplass Brothers (Puffy Chair, Cyrus, Jeff, Who Lives at Home) is brilliant in just how “low-concept” but “high impact” it is. A man tries to record a new outgoing message on his answering machine. That’s it. And yet, it also becomes a hilarious existential crisis about identity. Made for $3 (according to an interview in New York Times), this launched their career.
A TUNE FOR TWO - This one is so short that anything we write is bound to spoil it. Let’s just say it’s about the power of song.
